Lots of carp, goldeye and smaller sturgeon being cought now, very few cats.Area is being fished HEAVY by sturgeon and carp fishermen. You need a good jet boat to
get away from the croud.

CatCaster you son of a b!t(H ! Your avatar photo is ME with a walleye that I caught ! I ask that you immediately remove the picture. YOu must be a a real
poor fisherman if you have to steal other people fish pictures.

rookie, although I've never fished the Loma area I would focus on current breaks, riffle areas and small holes associated with them. Stay away from the really deep slow moving holes this time of year. Deep slow moving holes are more of a late summer, fall and ice out location. That doesn't mean they won't be there, but Channels are in pre-spawn mode right now. That means they are actively preparing for spawn and want to go where the food is readily available. Water temps. are low enough now where they won't be seeking deep water for temperature relief.

Thanks for the advice. I will report back.
I've been to Morony dam a couple times now and I've tried all sorts of baits/techniques and all I've caught is little bullheads, goldeye, and trout. I dont know of anyone else that has caught any cats there this spring either. Maybe it is too early or the water is too high and fast. Hopefully the Marias will yield better results |

Go to the links section of the main page of this site and then go to the USGS site! It will tell you the CFS (cubic feet per second) and once you firure out the CFS flows you can just about pinpoint the best times to fish it! You'll know if the banks going to be muddy, if the waters high the fish might be running up it, if the waters dropping the fishing might not be as good! Just a few hints! After a while you'll be able to know right when and where the fish are just by looking at this! I check it at least twice a day for all the rivers I fish especially if Im planning a trip! was a really long fish you caught though! Next time you should measure and get pics for master angler awards! Nice job anyway! The aticle and pics of its on
