I got my Catfish Connection in the mail today. Its like Christmas all over again for me every year when it arrives. It does not disappoint this year!! Their
service is second to none and they offer the best catfish supplies in the world.
Just a couple highlights in this years catalog include: The return of the Berkley E-Cat, that will be sold exclusively at cat connection!! This rod is an all-time great and had been discontinued for the past 8 years. "The Boss" series rod is also still available (we had heard they were being discontinued). A great selection of new baitcast and spinning reels, in-fisherman's new catfish DVD, and much much more. You can get a catalog for a couple bucks by calling: 1-800-929-5025 or order online at www.catfishconnection.com |

Hanson,
I'm sure you will be excited to see they brought back the E-Cat. E-Cats 3 & 4 are available at Cat Connection... I have heard you say that you are a big fan of these correct?? |

I got my catfish connection about a week ago. I was looking at some casting rods and considering getting one. I have only ever use spinning so not real sure
where to start or the advantages or disadvantages to a casting rod. Oh and what brand of reels do you guys like.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the baitcast reels on pages 10 and 11. There are a lot of great options to sift through. An all-time great, and
one that most of the field staff has used, is the Ambassadeur"C3" 6501. It is available right there for $85.95 I actually think the price has been
creeping up on those reels the past couple of years... they are tremendously popular with the catfish angler, and you can't go wrong when choosing that
one.
As far as casting rods.. you won't see any difference in the action of the rod.. between a typical spinning and casting rod. I prefer the casting option, for casting long distances. Some people view that the other way... so that is up to you. I spend most of my time fishing with casting rods, and typically only fish spinning rods on small rivers (Milk, Powder, etc.) I like to be universal, however, and like to think I can handle either option with no problems. Good luck if you give it a try this spring! The biggest adjustment that will have to be made, will be casting the different type of reel.. but that will all come quickly to you with time on the water. |

Thanks for the info. I agree with you about being universal, and with a little direction from you guys I can be. I spent a week in Mexico and fished in
the Sea of Cortez. Our guide used only casting rods and he could cast a long way and very accurately. I know bass fisherman like casting they say they can
pitch plastics further.

In-fisherman also has a new book out that I don't think was included in the new catfish connection......Critical Concepts 3: Catfish River
Presentations......should be a good read.

Nice! Your right its not available in the new catalog... Good find Nate. Is it available on the in-fisherman site? I'm gonna go check right now.. might be
putting in an order for it tonight. You can never have enough good catfishing literature. I really liked the first two critical concepts books they put out.

I tried to call in the order today...the lady said the new book and dvd were suppose to be out a long time ago...but they have some problems and are still
doing some editing. They haven't given her a timetable...I guess we'll just have to try later.

BigSkyCatMan wrote:The 4 is a bit stiff but the 3 is very nice for what we do. I paid a ton of money for an old E-Cat #4, I'm going to hang it on the wall now. The Moyer Boss was pretty much the same thing and they quit making the #3 in the Boss as well. A guy can never win! Have you guys checked out the Team Catfish rods yet? |

I know four of us own the new Team Catfish rods, but i'm not sure if any of us have had them out on the water yet? Maybe Doublehaul!?
As for the new critical concepts book, I purchased one and it is on its way. I recommend anybody wanting to expand their catfish knowledge to pick one of these up. I am sure the more books they sell, the more catfish videos and books they will be able to produce. |

I own a 7 Ft. M action spinning from team Catfish. It's way to light for the yellowstone, but it should be perfect for small rivers and channels.

Received my book and DVD today! Book looks pretty cool...color phots and all. Can't wait to get off work and look through it. Looks like they have plans
for a critical concepts 4 book. Of course there's a chapter on tailrace cats...in-fisherman's bread and butter.

Yeah my guess would be they are planning a 5 book critical concepts series much like they did with the Walleye books. I think the next one will be on
lakes/reservoirs and the 5th and final will be on the proverbial "putting it all together".
