Need some ideas for lake Mead |
Lead | |

I am going catfishing lake mead hopefully on this trip, as they are still hitting hard along with strippers. Doesn't seem that many anglers around las
vegas area want to help a guy out. so if anyone has any hints of Lake Mead Please let me know, thanks. fatcat

It is illegal to fish with any vertibrate cutbait in Nevada, Arizona, and CA. That means no fresh cutbait caught from local waters. Go to the closest grocery
store and buy Mackeral. Use your normal size bait for average montana size cats. For stripers (not to be confused with strippers) use rapalas. If you see fish
surfacing that means there's a bunch of stripers eating a bait ball under the water-cast there. Also for bait choice on stripers use anchovies, you should
be able to get them at any grocery store. Hook the chovies 1st through the head, run the hook all the way through the head, then "thread" your
fishing line through the head, and hook again in the tail. Works great!!!! Try low light situations off of steep drop offs, or points. If you're in a
boat, move a lot. Here's some links to more information from www.fishingnetwork.net
Good luck!!!
If you are going to do any boating, be very careful. The lake is over 100'
down from full pool and there are many slightly submerged rocks and reefs thoughout the lake, close to shore and out in the middle. Many are not marked by bouys.
Stripers are the name of the game there in the Fall. Looks for boils, you should see them around. Look for birds diving or flying around in certain areas. Look for shad schools near the shore, too. Stripers and bass will be there or close by. Use rattletraps, bucktail jigs, spoons or topwater baits. You can get LMB's & SMB's on plastics also. This lake has also come into itself in recent years as a reliable Channel Catfish lake. The average fish is around 15". Use nightcrawlers or hotdog weinies day or night for them. Tons of carp to catch on breadballs, lots of Bluegill to catch of pieces of worms. If you are taking a houseboat, you can catch all this stuff right from the deck of the boat. Have fun!!! http://fishingnetwork.net...6&highlight=Lake+mead http://fishingnetwork.net...9&highlight=Lake+mead http://fishingnetwork.net...6&highlight=Lake+mead |

I would love it if you took some SECRET-7 catfish bait and DEAD RED dip tubes catfishing with you.
I will even make you a deal......If you don't catch any cats on it I will buy it back + your shipping........I have been wanting someone to try it out on Lake Mead! I know it will work if you keep trying it......Catfish anglers are catching cats from coast to coast using it!
